A not for profit organizationJ.A. Lorenz specialized in Home and Family studies at Brigham Young University and University of Utah. Applying those learned skills in her family and her community.
Ann, as she is known, has been long involved in Community Service. She has served as a troop leader for the Girls Scouts of America, a room mother at various schools, an officer in the Parent Teacher Association, president of a 1300 member women's organization called the “Relief Society” which is affiliated with her religious group, public speaker for women’s conferences and youth groups, a leader for various service projects and at present, is wardrobe coordinator for a combined choir of 75 members.
From 1989 – 2000, Ann worked as a full service-wedding planner and facilitator. Taking responsibility for catering buffets for 300, decorating the hall and the cake, flower arranging, refreshments, and even ordering invitations and specialty items.
Ann is a wife, mother of 2 girls and grandmother of 5 children aged 5-15. She and her husband, Tom, experienced their youngest daughter’s frustration with un-diagnosable Epilepsy for the first 10 years of the occurrences. As they spent these years researching, learning and seeking the proper medical treatment for Epilepsy, they became determined to share the information they gathered with others also seeking help with seizure disorders and to aide in educating the general community to become more knowledgeable about this condition.
On a personal note, their, daughter is back to college finishing her Junior year in the School of Communications at Brigham Young University. Ann says, “Our daughter's recovery and stability has returned but we continue to watch closely and hold our breath - like all parents. At present she is doing well in all ways of a young woman's life.”
Thomas F. Lorenz graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Biological Sciences. Straight out of graduate school, he was hired by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to serve in Region 7 (covering the Kansas City Metropolitan and 4 state region) where he has remained for the past 35 years serving in many capacities. He has worked with the EPA in the public sector as a field biologist, a National Environmental Protection Act Officer, in the water quality programs and in the Remedial Project Management group as a project manager overseeing the cleaning up of hazardous waste sites from World War II. The goal is to reclaim the property to be safe for the public's reuse of these properties.
Throughout his employment, Tom also served our country in the U.S. Army Medical force for 25 years retiring as 1st Sergeant for the Unit in June of 2003 from the 325th Field Hospital Group located in Independence, Missouri.
From his years of work and service Tom has been the recipient of numerous awards including the National Silver Medal from EPA in 2005 and a National Notable Achievement Award in 2004 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency headquartered in Washington, D.C.
Tom loves to fish, hunt rocks, see wildlife, and enjoy all aspects of the out doors. Tom also is a Cancer survivor of 5 years and shares his survival skills and “Love of Life” with others.
We are glad to have his continued valuable insight, enthusiasm and direction.
M.E. DePalma is an honors graduate of the University of Kansas where she was awarded the masters fellowship to pursue an MS in Industrial & Organizational Psychology. She has written seminars and training programs for corporations, articles for trade journals and gardening articles for The Sun-Sentinel and “Birds & Blooms” Magazine. She is an avid gardener specializing in butterfly gardening and has co-authored the book, "A Garden Diary a Guide to Gardening in South Florida". Her property has been recognized as both a National and a Florida Backyard Wildlife Habitat.
Ms. DePalma has worked as a model, industrial consultant and private investigator. She was the first web master for the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, a Board Member of Insight for the Blind, an “Entre Nous” supporter of the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival, a member of the Attorney General's Senior vs.Crime project and a member of the NatureScape Broward Board which worked to make Broward County the first county in the USA to be declared a Certified Wildlife Habitat by creating habitats every half mile within its borders.
She is the owner of DePalma Enterprises a web design, hosting and marketing company with offices is Florida, New York and London. A dedicated conservationist and mother of two, her goal is just to "make a difference" wherever she can. She is our webmaster and friend.
Dr. Lizabeth de Padua is a graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine.
