Shared Stories from John Camp

Kim and JohnAs a lot of you know, I have been living with epilepsy for over 25 years. I was diagnosed at 15, and fortunately the seizures were quickly brought under control through medication. That control lasted for 15 years and then the
seizures came back. Since that time I have taken nearly every medication known to treat seizures. I have gone through all of the testing just to find out that I am not a candidate for surgery. Fortunately I have found a combination of medicine that gives me a level of control I can live with, but I still have at least one a day. That's far better than the 15 to 20 seizures I used to have every day.

Believe it or not, I'm one of the lucky ones. I have Simple Partial seizures, which means I remain conscious throughout with no lasting effects.  Many people live with the knowledge that the could have a Generalized seizure at any time.

THERE CURRENTLY IS NO CURE FOR EPILEPSY!

That is why I will be participating in the National Walk for Epilepsy scheduled to take place on the National Mall in Washington, DC (our version is at Oak Park Mall) on Saturday, March 29, 2008. The money we raise will go
to fight stigma, raise awareness and find a cure for epilepsy.

I am asking you to help by supporting my fund-raising efforts with a donation. Your tax-deductible gift will make a difference in the lives of many! It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause - you can make your donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message. If you would prefer, you can also send your tax-deductible contribution to the address listed below.

Any amount, great or small, helps in the fight. I greatly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.
